7 March:
Woke up. Feeling refreshed and full of hope. Today we try to cure Grugg. He is dirty, disguisting, and eats crap, but he's ours. Performed morning rites and prayers. Prayed that we find enough loot to get a cure disease potion for Grugg.
Went down for breakfast. Found out that Gruggs health has taken a turn for the worse, and so he won't be coming with us today. I don't know if it is the disease that's causing it or the meat lizard meat that he keeps eating, but never mind. Yet another scout has volunteered to come with us to scout the moathouse for us. His name is Jason. Hope I get to know him.
Encountered more Giant Frogs on the way to the Moathouse. Knowing what they are and what they can do, defeated them quite painlessly, without losses. Reached the Moathouse and scouted around on the ground floor. No new monsters appeared overnight, so we went down the stairs to the cellar, which we found before. Just as we were walking down the stairs, Gara Duhl of all people, found something on one of the steps. Everyone had to back up to the top of the stairs at this point to let Jason have a look. In the end, we found a gold ring. Tried going down stairs again.
Gy god, Cuthy save us all!!! I have been a witness to a most horrible death... We were walking down the stairs. Gara Duhl was just ahead of me. Suddenly, something green and slimy dropped onto his back from the ceiling, and started hissing, smoking and eathing through his armour. My first reaction was to swipe it off with my Bec De Corbin, but that thing just ate through it, leaving me with a wooden pole. Jason who was ahead, and carrying a lantern, tried to dowse the green slime with oil and set it alight, but the wick went off and the oil didn't burn. I shouted for a torch to be passed down from the back, but it was too late. In desperate attempt to get the slime off, Gara Duhl tried to wipe it off with his cloak. It ate through the cloak and got to his skin... Almost immediately, his form turned green and started turning into more of the same green slime. I had little choice but to thrust the torch into his middle, liting the oil. Cuthy, forgive me. I had no choice. He was gone. At that stage, another piece of slime landed on Jason's head. We managed to get to him in time. His hair got very burned, but we managed to burn off the slime before it got to his skin. Thank St.Cuthbert for that at least.
Finally, after a few minutes of confusion, we managed to organize ourselves once again and push on. The second room onwards contained an angry Ogre. Dronpa, having never seen such a creature before, tried to say hello, but, predictably, the beast only grunted and attacked. The battle was very short but brutal. The Ogre wielded a huge axe and attacked the most defenceless person around, Jason who was trying to sneak behind him. I guess he tried to attack from the rear. It would have been a good tactic, and he may have gotten away with it, but somehow, I think he forgot, that it is very hard to sneak around in the shadows while carrying a lit lantern. In any case, he was decapitated on the spot... I will never get to know him after all. Dear Cuthbert, why is this day so filled with death?
Re-organized ourselves once again. Jason's body now rests on the mule, and will be burried in the Cemetery. Gara Duhl will have no such luck. His body was completely gone.
Went on to investigate the cellar. Heard some booming noises down the corridor, but when we looked we found nothing but a few zombies. Zakhiya and I managed to turn them, mostly with no problems. Didn't find any signs of whatever could be making the booming sounds.
It's almost time to go home. Decided to open the last door that we found in the Ogre room. Behind it, we found some terrified prisoners who were expecting to be eaten by the Ogre. We managed to calm them down and lead them out of the Moathouse safely.
Got back to town. Burried Jason, may he rest in peace. This has not been a good day. We have lost too many, saw too much. At least, I think we managed to find enough treasure to cure Grugg. But we lost Gara Duhl and Jason. I will be praying to St.Cuthbert tonight, asking for guidance.
Went to trading post to see if I can replace my Bec De Corbin.
Performed evening rites and prayers. Slept.
